ACT Question of the Week header

What is the value of x?

 2x + 3 = 3x – 4

  1. -7

  2. -⅕

  3. 1

  4. ⅕

  5. 7

Answer: The correct response is E. You can solve this problem by first subtracting 2x from each side of the equation to get 3 = x – 4. Then add 4 to each side, so x = 7.
