Sequoyah Elementary’s Howl Heart Award Recognizes Unsung Heroes
At Sequoyah Elementary, the impact of a helping hand, a kind word, or a steady presence is being recognized in a special way. The Howl Heart Award, a student-led initiative, gives 5th graders the opportunity to honor any staff member in the building who has made a meaningful impact on their lives. From teachers to custodians, office staff to child nutrition employees, anyone who plays a role in a student’s journey can be celebrated.

SHS Principal Johnson Named 2025 OKSL School Administrator Award Winner
Shawnee High School Principal, Mr. Matt Johnson, has been named the 2025 recipient of the prestigious Oklahoma School Library (OKSL) School Administrator Award. This honor recognizes outstanding leadership and dedication to advancing school library media programs across Oklahoma.

Booster Club Officers are encouraged to be present at this information session. A minimum of one representative from each school-sanctioned Booster Organization must attend.
Topics include legal requirements, Title IX considerations, and information on the dos and don’ts for SPS Booster Clubs.
Shawnee High School honored its senior basketball players on Friday, February 14, during a special Senior Night celebration. The event recognized the dedication and achievements of eight seniors from the Lady Wolves and Wolves basketball teams.
The seniors honored included:
Wolves: Deetrick Beavers, Daytain Patton, Isaiah Smith, and Carter Whipkey
Lady Wolves: Serenity Casteel, Allyson McAlister, and Josie Megehee

Shawnee Baseball Inducts Four New Members into Hall of Fame
Shawnee Baseball proudly welcomed four new members into its Hall of Fame during the annual banquet held on Thursday, February 13, at Gordon Cooper Technology Center. The event brought together over 100 attendees to celebrate the rich history and accomplishments of Shawnee baseball while honoring the newest inductees: Dwight Atchley, David Porter, Jim Robertson, and Larry James.
Shawnee High School Celebrates Spring Homecoming with the Theme “You Got the Beat”
Shawnee High School celebrated its Spring Homecoming on Friday, January 31, at the Shawnee High School Performing Arts and Athletic Center. This year's theme, "You Got the Beat," added a touch of gold to the hype of the festivities, with the Homecoming King and Queen crowned in a special ceremony held before the Lady Wolves tip-off.
Candidates included:
Baseball: Alex Thompson
Basketball: Allyson McAlister, Daytain Patton
Golf: Kanynn Kaseca, Chicago Herron
Pom: Mia Bryant, Katy Brock
Soccer: Addison Williams, Gage Karner
Tennis: Emelia Bronson, Hagen Wells
Track: Damian Pineda
Wrestling: Eliana Banks, Trenton McCune
Wrestling representative, Trenton McCune was crowned as the 2025 Spring Homecoming King, and representing golf, Kanynn Kaseca was crowned Queen.
On the court, the Lady Wolves delivered a dominant performance, securing a 54-33 victory over Bishop Kelley. The Wolves battled hard in a close matchup but ultimately fell to Bishop Kelley, 46-52. Despite the outcome, the energy from the homecoming crowd made for an unforgettable night.
Several of our district's students have submitted their artwork to the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art's 5th Annual High School Juried Art Exhibition. Support the arts at SPS by visiting the museum throughout the month of March!

From spreading Valentine’s across the community to vocal performances and giving back to local non-profits, it was a day full of impact!
